201 Stanwix Street
Pittsburgh, PA 15222

Built in 1957, 201 Stanwix was originally used as office space by Bell Telephone of Pennsylvania and, later, Verizon. In its original state, this former office tower contained some elements that provided a favorable layout for apartment dwellings, including a rectangular footprint and centrally located interior elevators. However, the project renovation required a near-total gut, including the removal of nearly all existing improvements and infrastructure, as well as the replacement of windows on most floors. In the process, we preserved some of the historical features, including wood paneling, built-in bookcases and wet bars, where possible, as this building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Newly renovated, 201 Stanwix currently houses 158 luxury 1- and 2-bedroom apartments, as well as a charter high school on the lower floors. Its proximity to Point State Park, coupled with growing residential demand in downtown Pittsburgh, made the project a complementary addition to the city's current stock of historic office buildings and Class B office towers.
